A review of the economic and social benefits of Indigenous ranger programs in northern Australia
For almost a decade Commonwealth and State governments have funded Indigenous ranger groups through a programs such as “Working on Country”. There are now over 800 rangers operating across the country. The rangers perform land and sea management duties on Indigenous lands, national parks and state reserves. Synergies was engaged by Pew Charitable Trusts to prepare a report on the social and economic contributions of Indigenous ranger programs in Australia.
